I am not familiar with Murdock theories but according to what you describe it appears that the kibbutzim refuted the theory as originally the kids from early age were not living with their parents but in common dormitories for all the kids . Q. I have read about the Kibbutzim and they sound very fun, but I have also read that since most of the land has been nationalized most of them have closed down and aren't open to foreign volunteers, or have lost their socialist ideals. So what's up with them? How many are there, what is it like now for a foreign volunteer, etc. I would like to maybe go one day. What do people mainly do there for work? Many kibbutzim still exist, and it is possible to volunteer to work on one. Most of the work is still farm work, but many kibbutzim also do more "modern" work to make money. For example, the kibbutz that my friend lives on has a Tech Company that makes digital billboard things. Kibbutzim are very social places, the people are very friendly and care for each other.
